10/13/2023 0 Comments Sigma chi alabamahave a much rowdier reputation then those in Canada, I've even had friends tell me before that I'm not part of a "real frat" because it's in Canada. My chapter held true to this, and we have never had a history of hazing before either. Simply put, are American Sigma Chi Chapters known for hazing? When I first received my bid, one of the first things three brothers read to me was that there is a zero tolerance policy on hazing, as stated by the Founders in the Norman Shield textbook. Also due to the nature of my question if you are answering this about your own chapter please do not feel like you have to state where it is. I'm from one of the few Canadian chapters that Sigma Chi, and due to the nature of my question would prefer not to reveal which one as of right now, however if anyone wants to know just shoot me a message. So far I have loved being a part of Sigma Chi and it has completely turned out my social experience around in university. I was a winter rush, went through pledgeship, and was initiated about three weeks ago. Below are the 15 most extravagant University of Alabama sorority houses, which (trust us) are probably way nicer than your adult apartment.I would like to start out that I am a newly initiated brother into the Sigma Chi Fraternity as of this year. Instead, think spiral staircases, marble floors, high-end designer wallpaper, and chandeliers literally sent over from some of the fanciest hotels in the country. And since the University of Alabama's sorority membership is one of the largest in the country (more than 2,000 women in 24 sororities), the school really invests in them. Most run about 40,000 square feet so that there's room for every member to attend meetings and eat meals and for 70 or more members to live on-site. With the average membership fees of $7,000 to $7,500 per semester including room and board, these aren't your average college dorms they're actual mansions. But what really stood out for us was the houses. Moreover, practically all the participants appeared to be white and almost all blonde. It follows four women as they prepare for sorority rush in 2022, exploring everything from rush consultants (yes, they're a thing!) to the deep struggles of womanhood.Īt the height of the viral sensation, there was tons to ogle online, from #OOTDs (that's outfit of the day for the uninitiated) to pledge videos to confusing and even near-cultish rituals. Now, Max (formerly HBO Max) has released a documentary called Bama Rush that takes viewers even deeper into the emotional experience. As a refresher: Freshmen at the University of Alabama who were "rushing" its sororities posted all about the incredibly competitive process on TikTok, giving us an inside look at what it takes to get into a sorority at the Greek-centric southern school. You've probably heard about the TikTok phenomenon #bamarush that overtook the app in August 2021.
